Ranking the most popular attractions
The Forbes Traveler 25 Most Visited U.S. Tourist Attractions list pits the spectacles of nature against the drama of the man-made. While our list includes the thundering falls of Niagara, it also features the harrowing water-chutes of Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean.
Our research suggests that tourists appreciate renowned art collections and sunny beaches in equal measure. Each year, roughly the same number of visitors (about 4.5 million in 2006) explore the hallowed halls of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art as wile away their days off on the sands of Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach. Before you go:
- check our travel advice pages for the country you are visiting. Sign up for email alerts and you’ll get the latest updates for that country
- register with our LOCATE service so we can get in touch with you if something goes wrong
- find out where the nearest embassy will be – check their website to find out what services they offer and their opening times

If you are travelling for business or pleasure then you want to be as comfortable and hassle free as possible. If you are travelling frequently then you are probably a member of one, if not more than one airlines frequent flyer club. You may not know what to do with all the points you are earning, or even how they work, however there are many other simpler ways to benefit.
Trying to stay with one airline club does have enormous benefits, especially if it falls into one of the two biggest airline alliances, namely, Star Alliance or One World. As your miles increase and as you travel more the more you will eventually become one of their ‘elite’ members, with a superior status to the standard membership level. Some airlines will recognise their most frequent flyers by giving them the Gold Card or the next tier of membership.
